| About the Broward Folk Club
The Broward Folk Club is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote folk and acoustic music and to provide a community for people
who share a love for it.
The BFC held its first songswap in March of 1988. Twenty-one people
showed up for that first meeting. Today the BFC has an active membership
is around 200.
The Broward Folk Club presents:
•
Open Mic
a monthly, event at various venues around town.
• Folk Music Open House
a monthly, more intimate folk music party at members' homes.
• Annual Picnic
a yearly membership meeting, picnic. music, music and more music!
• South Florida Folk Festival
a major festival; the highlight of the BFC's year.
Over the years, the BFC also produced the Raven Coffeehouse; a Benefit Concert for Broward House, a residence for AIDS victims; and a Benefit Concert for Women in Distress, a residence for battered women and their children. In prior years the South Florida Folk Festival made contributions
to the Daily Bread Food Bank and the Adam Walsh Fund
The Broward Folk Club is open to anyone who has a love for folk music, be they performer or listener. The low membership fee entitles members to:
• Monthly Newsletter
includes articles of interest as well as a calendar with acoustic
events in the tri-county area.
• Monthly Calendar
lists both on-going and other tri-county folk happenings
• Discounts
for BFC events & other folk happenings, Rise Up Singing
Songbooks, and BFC T-Shirts.
